Write a story in the Hoplite Renegades universe! Michael would relish the opportunity for other SciFi writers to help promote Hoplite Renegade stories. He will sell your books at events if you will sell his books at your events - a win-win scenario! Send us your short story or novella. Your Hoplite Renegades story could be published on this website or possibly even in a compilation book of short stories. Or you can publish one yourself after approval. A good story from a first-time writer is worth as much to us as a good story written by a veteran writer with thousands in past book sales. Remember, in order to publish your own Hoplite Renegades story elsewhere, you must have our written permission first.

Oh, you want to write a full-length novel in the Hoplite Renegades universe? Please submit a summary and outline in order to be granted permission to do so. If you are a first-time author, please include at least one sample chapter so that we can get an idea of your writing style. If you are a previously published author, please include the title(s) of your most recently published books (up to three) so we can check them out. Please do not write an entire novel based in the Hoplite Renegades universe until after we have approved your initial proposal. We certainly do not want to waste anyone’s valuable time by rejecting a novel that is almost completed. It is a violation of copyright law to publish works in the Hoplite Renegades universe without our written permission.

You must be approved before publishing any story in the Hoplite Renegades universe whether in print or on the web. (Are you tired of hearing that phrase yet? No? That’s good.) Each separate story must be approved so that continuity and the integrity of the Hoplite Renegades universe can be maintained. We will also edit the content and plots of all stories in order to assure continuity. As you might have guessed after reading Hoplite Renegades, vulgarity and nudity are not a part of the Hoplite Renegades universe.

Possible Story Lines Available To Be Written Upon Approval:

• Other adventures of R&B Security before the time that they appear in Hoplite Renegades.
• The story of how Torrie Singleton helps Barents and Turgeon escape the authorities to secretly reach R&B Security.
• The story of Kraus wrapping up his recruitment of scientists and how his vacation went before the cruise takes place on the Candela Four.
• Other adventures of Masterson during the Fifth Great Defensive against the Riventak.
• Stories that center among the first four years of Masterson’s career as the captain of the Indestructible fending off pirates. Some differing crewmembers from what appear in Hoplite Renegades are a certainty.
• The adventures of Masterson’s parents in the Fifth Great Defensive against the Riventak and the Gorkin-Nuther War. Both parents were fighter pilots.
• Other adventures of Tremor before the time that he appeared in Hoplite Renegades.
• Story of the original recon mission of the Sol star system performed by the Riventak before they attacked Earth. This would be before the beginning of the First Great Defensive.
• The story of what happened to Elgin when he made a run for it after Kraus killed Voight.
• Past stories of Francis Deen while attending Jupiter University.
• Do not limit your creative juices to this short list. You may make up your own all-new characters entirely. They can be of any type as long as the story fits into and flows well within the Hoplite Renegades universe.

Project Underway:
Michael Darling is working on a digital comic with artist Aaron Millard. A digial comic is a video in cartoon format using audio, but no animation.

Project On Hold:
Author Michael Darling is beginning a new novel in the Hoplite Renegades universe involving all new characters in an exploration-type adventure encompassing political implications within the Confederacy tentatively titled Decision 440.

Remember that permission must be granted before any stories based in the Hoplite Renegades universe can be published. Contribute Visual Art to this Website

Create Hoplite Renegades art and have it displayed on this website. Exercise those drawing, painting, graphic art, or camera skills and send us your rendition of anything you can dream that should be in the Hoplite Renegades universe. The slate is wide-open at this point. Read Hoplite Renegades again to get a better understanding for the technological aspects of the universe.

You must be the artist and own all the rights to the art that is submitted to us. Sample art and a proposal of possible art can be sent so that time is not wasted creating art for the Hoplite Renegades universe in case we choose not to use your art. At this time, funds for artwork are limited, but negotiable. Even if you do not want or are granted compensation for visual art, this website makes an excellent outlet to publish that art and gain recognition. We will prefer to offer future illustrative opportunities to those that have contributed to this website. No offensive or risqué material, please. Some blood is acceptable where applicable.

All submissions should be e-mailed to submissions@HopliteRenegades.com for consideration. If your art is not in digital format, you must have a digital picture or scan taken of the art (or sample art) and e-mail that to us. You will receive an e-mail reply after we first view the art.
